I love helping clients move, because I have seen how much value I can add to the process. By getting involved early, before they've finalized their decisions about furnishings and floorplans, I can make the transition so much smoother than they ever thought possible. Imagine moving into your new abode and having it ship-shape in days rather than months. With a little planning, you can have walls painted and draperies hung before the furniture arrives, or shortly thereafter. When the movers show up, you know exactly where each piece of furniture belongs, and you don't have any excess pieces crowding your rooms.
As with any project, my objective is to help you create a comfortable, functional, beautiful home. I do this by listening to your wants and needs -- if you want to keep some favourite pieces, I do my best to accommodate them. Want to start fresh? That's okay, too. But while I focus on solutions for your new home, you might need help dealing with your existing home, as well as the furnishings that we won't be using in the new home.
That's why I've assembled a team of professionals to help make your transition as smooth and stress-free as possible. Let me introduce you to them:
Debbie Kimmerly, UpStaging Design, Canadian Certified Staging Professional. Debbie is a staging whiz, trained in the art of helping you and your realtor sell your home quickly, and for top dollar. She will advise you on paint colours, furniture placement, and decluttering, with the goal of making your home more attractive to potential buyers. If your decor is particularly tired, she can rent furniture and accessories to complement or replace your own items, for maximum impact. But don't worry -- whether she wants them in the house for staging or not, we will still be able to take your favourite pieces to the new home. (We might just have to store them in the garage for a few weeks.)
Carol O'Neil and Mark Clarke, Next Steps Solutions, Certified Relocation and Transition Specialists. Mark and Carol help you to sort through your belongings, especially if you have to part with some items in order to make the move. Once I have helped you to develop a floorplan for the new home, they will help us to deal with the furnishings and accessories that we won't be using. They are adept at finding homes for your treasures, without throwing them into the local landfill. Women moving out of shelters and new immigrants are among the local charities that they will work with to find good homes for your items. Mark has a Personal Property Appraiser designation, and can tell which items might be sold and what their value might be. They will sort, pack, and remove your belongings, all while working to fulfill your wishes for them. If there's a 'hoarder' in the house, they are specially trained to work with them, too. They also know lots of tricks for dealing with old photos and recipes.
I also have expert painters and an excellent flooring contractor who are ready to help with your move.
The photos at left are just a sampling of a home that my entire team recently got ready for sale. I think the results speak for themselves. So, if there's a move in your future, let's talk.
P.S. If you sign up for my decorating newsletters, using the link at the right, one of the monthly emails you will receive will include tips on making a SMART Move.
P.P.S. We have also created a special seminar, called a SMARTea, which is available free of charge for most groups. Check out my 'Free Seminars' tab to see upcoming dates. Or call to discuss one for your own group.
